> DESCRIPTION

Curated by Amy Pederson, La Quebradora explores the theme of lucha libre, the popular Mexican sport of "free wrestling," as a platform for mapping Mexico's cultural history and the imbricated social relations that are echoed beyond its borders. Through video, sculpture, painting, and performance the exhibit addresses central concerns such as redemption, salvation, identity, and the spectacle. The dynamic selection of artists includes: Carlos Amorales, Gina Arizpe, Artemio, Juan Bastardo, Edgar Cobian, Christian Franco, Enrique Hernandez, Nina Hoechtl, Felipe Manzano, Israel Martinez, Antonio Monroy, Ruben Gutierrez, and Joaquin Segura.
