Kai Samuels-Davis is a New York born artist, currently living and working in Jenner, California.
Working in both oil and watercolor, cinematic themes often arise in his paintings, giving them the sense of being fragments of a larger framework of thoughts. His work is composed of figures, landscapes and objects focusing on the moments we keep to ourselves. Utilizing expressive realism, these images are cerebral and visceral, creating a mood of melancholy and solitude with an appreciation for their necessity and beauty.
Samuels-Davis studied at the Art Students League of New York; he received his BFA at SUNY Purchase, and completed his graduate studies in film at the Art Center College of Design in California.
His work has been shown in galleries in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and England.
