Redistributed and Reinterpreted
October 31- November 11, 2011
OPENING RECEPTION: THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2011
When we read the memory of another we are just as inclined to include our personal stories in the interpretation as when we read our own. Everyone has a mind map that links their perceptions to their personal histories. In Redistributed and Reinterpreted we are harnessing those maps, recording our own memories and passing them off to each other to reinterpret in an attempt to watch our history through the eyes of another. The resulting works both pull the rug of our past right out from underneath our feet and liberate us from the depths of the recollection. We simultaneously find commonality by sharing our experiences and create a buffer space between our stories and our selves by giving them away.
