The Popular Workshop is pleased to host ALL THIS HAPPENED, MORE OR LESS an exhibition featuring nine artists selected by Jonathan Runcio.
The exhibit evolved out of an interest in certain modes of production that stem from an initial break down or fragmentation. Through a variety of media, the artists collapse disparate sources and processes and embrace a makeshift scatter in order to introduce a renewed legibility.
Stand in the gallery.
Look for similarities among the works and see how the outliers can refine the sense that those similarities provoked.
Go up to each work and consider them; they are all specific; not general.
Think about how the works were made and how they were selected.
Note their placement in the exhibition
Consider how all of this is real and not something you’re trying to imagine.
Be here, with this work.
It is real.
This show is first of a two part series with Jonathan Runcio, with his own solo show, WIDE WIDE RUIN, opening October 7, 2011.
