Call for Artists – Juried Show

“The Abstract” – Juried Show with esteemed Juror Phil Linhares, Chief Curator of Art, The Oakland Museum of California.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

‘The Abstract’, subject matter at the discretion of the artist. Works must be two dimensional originals, painting, drawing, mixed media, photography,  etc (sculpture and film/video will not be considered). Maximum size of originals, 60”x72”. Images should be submitted only on CD, no slides or photos.  Files should be labeled with title and number coordinating with the image list.  Exhibition is open to California Artists Only.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 15^th 2011. *Applications are no longer being accepted*

NOTIFICATION FOR SELECTED ARTISTS: May 18^th 2011

Notify by email or SASE: please include a self addressed stamped envelope (SASE) with sufficient postage for the return of your notification

AWARD: The artist who is awarded first place will receive a solo exhibition at Sandra Lee Gallery.  Details/dates to be discussed with the artist after juried show.

EXHIBITION DATE: June 1-27^th 2011

OPENING RECEPTION: June 9^th 2011

My work is included in this group exhibition at Sandra Lee Gallery in San Francisco drawing a focus to abstraction. The term abstraction can mean many things to many people - artists included. It was left up toe the submitting artists to determine what it might mean. The exhibition entries were limited to California artists. Should be most interesting as California has played a significant part with abstraction in the United States historically speaking. This is a Juried Group Exhibition curated by Phil Linhares, Chief Curator of Art, Oakland Museum of California. -kathryn arnold
