Last year photographer Chad Meacham and Sarah Baxter went to 15 countries in Asia and Europe to document preparations for local Pride marches. This included the banned pride in Moscow, where they met activist Nikolai Alekseev, as well as Lithuania's first Pride, the banned march in Minsk, Istanbul's first Trans-Pride, and many others. Their project blog tells more about the project plus their other blog tells what it was like attending and photographing the Prides.
Since finishing the project, they have partnered with the IDAHO Committee to show a global exhibition of Chad's images in over 20 countries worldwide as part of a global recognition of May 17 as the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. Magnet is proud to host a number of the compelling images throughout May.
