A lecture by acclaimed painter Barry Masteller
Presented by Friends of the Museum
Wednesday, May 11, 10:30 am
MMA La Mirada - 720 Via Mirada, Monterey, CA
Barry Masteller’s talk and slide presentation will focus on the time when he felt his work began to coalesce, which he feels happened shortly after he moved to Pacific Grove in 1970. The artist says, “My images are not of real places but of the imagined, felt or memorized-places of the mind. I like to think of them as dream-like aspects of the deeper mind and subconscious.”
Masteller’s work has been shown extensively since 1964 throughout California, in New York and Chicago, and last year at the U.S Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal. His work is among numerous private and corporate collections including the Monterey Museum of Art’s permanent collection.
