Please join us on Thursday, January 13th from 7 - 9 PM for an Artist Talk with Tony May. Complimentary champagne will be served from 6:45 to 7:15 PM and the program will begin at 7:30 PM. A no-host beer/wine bar will also be provided.
Old Technology on view through February 26th marks the first large-scale retrospective exhibition of works by Tony May, Professor Emeritus at San Jose State University. This comprehensive exhibition covers more than 40 years and includes paintings, sculptures, installations as well as recreations of past temporal, interventionist and site-specific projects that have been lost or destroyed over time.
Limited edition art boxes that the ICA has produced in conjunction with this exhibition are available for purchase. Buy one now or purchase at the event.
In advance of this program we invite you to read the catalogue essay written by Renny Pritikin, Director of the Richard L. Nelson Gallery and Fine Art Collection at UC Davis who provides an insightful and detailed look at Tony's work over the past several decades. Additionally, you might wish to scan this review by KQED arts reporter Ben Marks who writes that Old Technology is "easily one of the best art exhibitions I've seen in years."
We are very excited to kick off our new programming year with Tony May and friends. We look forward to seeing you next week.
Admission: $10 ICA members; $15 non-members. Pay at the door.
