Driftwood Salon Presents
“We’ve Come A Long Way”
Migrating, one of our most natural animal instincts, a biological right, is quickly becoming a heavily monitored business. Thanks to SB 1070, in Arizona, armed men and women can now demand our legal documents every time we set foot outside our homes.
Almost everyone reading this has either struggled on their path to get here, or knows of someone who has. Every generation, from all lands, must acknowledge the barriers these international laws presses on us at some point in our lives. What fascinates us is how this highly regimented society has left it’s mark on to the art we create, generation after generation.
Art knows no borders. “We’ve Come A Long Way” aims to remind the viewer of the journeys that we have taken, roots that we’ve laid, and all the rich diversity that this land of immigrants has to offer.
We are featuring artists from all over our nation, of mixed ethnic backgrounds, and all Americans in their own right, including Barbara Shapiro, Lady Millard, Noya, Justin Angelos, Edward Fitzgerald, Shilo Ratner, Barrett Cook, Mei-Ying Dell’Aquila, Ulla de Larios, Greg Wilson and Amanda Ichihashi-Jagerman.
Opening reception will be on Thursday October 7th from 5-10pm. Many of the artists will be in attendance.
Driftwood Salon is an art gallery and art collective here in the SoMa district of beautiful San Francisco.
We are artists who work for the arts. It is our mission to bring you fresh, innovative monthly exhibits featuring not only some of the Bay Area’s finest artists, but also some incredible international artists.
