> DESCRIPTION
Objects of Human Making is an assignment-based exhibition that invites artists to create work that considers the namesake of SOAP gallery. It is an open-ended project and experiment with the ultimate goal of exhibiting various reactions, creations, and considerations of soap, it’s ubiquity, necessity, metaphorical potential, and its overall role in human history and culture. Any facet or offshoot of the history of soap has been considered, as well as current attitudes or notions of cleanliness, order, or hygiene.
The title, Objects of Human Making, is taken from Francis Ponge’s literary work, Soap, which was written by Ponge in France during in World War II.
