Topic: The Mission:  An Art Scene in Transition.  Where were we?  Where are we now?

In 1985, a young entrepreneur, Servio Gomez, opened the doors to Back to the Picture, a custom framing business in the Mission District of San Francisco.  Servio's love of art and people led to the business's expansion to include gallery space offering valuable exhibition opportunities to Latin American and local artists.

From its inception, Back to the Picture staff has been a constant resource in the Mission arts community by providing advice and assistance to artists with each piece of custom framing.  Over these many years, Back to the Picture has handled hundreds of thousands of pieces of artwork, always with creative and practiced results.

Ahora en la Misión:  Back to the Picture Celebrates 25 Years of Art

Please join the staff of Back to the Picture as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary in service to the Mission community with this exhibition.  We will showcase the diversity of artists that form the "Mission School of Art" so unique the world over.  Works from well-established Mission artists will hang side-by-side with emerging and mid-career artists who have recently made the Mission their home.

We dedicate this exhibition to our friend and mentor, José Ramón Lerma.  Por todo que haz hecho para la comunidad de artistas de la Misión:  ¡Gracias José Ramón!
