Love Is Not Enough by Calvin Trezise is a new series of photographs, which attempt to distill the male condition into a cohesive set of “tableaux vivants”. Caught on camera by friend and photographer Mark McKnight, the work represents the artist’s long-standing interest and investigation of power structures within sexuality, identity of the individual. Through the symbolic interaction of his body with people, objects and environments, each photographed scene in Love Is Not Enough reveals the artist reinterpreting and reiterating the historical notions of masculinity while revealing a new comprehension of male identity.
