The San Francisco Foundation and SOMArts Cultural Center present a focus ed look at the future of the Bay Area visual and media arts landscape. The Annual Murphy and Cadogan Contemporary Art Awards Exhibition showcases the work of promising visual artists from regional Master of Fine Arts (MFA) pr ograms working across disciplines and identifies young artists whose work i ntersects with emerging trends.

\n

Opening with a reception and a wards ceremony Friday\, September 6\, 2013\, 6:30&ndash\;9pm\, awards at 7:00pm\, the exhibition surveys new work from the 27 recipie nts of the competitive Jack and Gertrude Murphy Fellowships and the Edwin A nthony and Adelaine Bourdeaux Cadogan Art Awards\, administered by The San Francisco Foundation.

The Fellowships provide a varying number of annual tuition awards of $5\,000 to Bay Area Fine Arts graduate student s in support of exploring and developing their artistic potential in digita l art\, film/video\, hybrid practice\, installation\, mixed media\, paintin g\, photography and sculpture.

\n

Fellowship recipients were sele cted by Monica Ramirez-Montagut\, Associate Director and Senior Curator of MACLA/San Jose Center for Latino Arts and Justin Hoover\, Curator and Galle ry Director of SOMArts Cultural Center. After careful evaluation of the 117 applicants\, the panel recommended the following outstanding MFA visual ar t students to receive awards.
