Intersection Show by Migdalia Valdes

I went to the opening on April 4th. It was packed with people, standing and sitting on the floor, walking around and flipping through Migdalia's journals. The set-up is amazing; it's a review of the last 10 years of Valdes "Every Day" project. From the vast amount of work that she creates, she selected 1 picture for the Decade, 10 pictures from the Every Year, 12 pictures for Every Month and all pictures from the Every Day for one year. The room is beautifully arranged and filled with black and white photographs. The Every Day pictures surround the room as contact sheets mimicking a cityscape. The center of the room is filled with white sculptures holding the Every Day Journals that contain everything, the pictures, visual memories and reminders, found items and people and the contact sheets. The photographs are thoughtfully arranged, handcrafted and timeless depicting everyday events, everyday people and communities and an urban landscape. Very cool, smart with a long term vision addressing visual memory and definitely obsessive!
