We are very pleased to announce the
Round 1 Jurors for the ArtSlant Prize 2014!

Jeremy E. Steinke
Guggenheim Young Collectors Council Acquisitions Committee, New York.

Jeremy E. Steinke is an art historian, dance dramaturg, film story-editor, cultural producer and contemporary art collector. A former classical musician, dancer, and choreographer, he is devoted to working with contemporary visual artists, performers, and filmmakers and the progressive institutions that support and present their work. Since receiving his Master’s degree in art history, Jeremy has worked in many facets of arts, media, and film administration and production. He has over ten years experience working directly with non-profit and public arts organizations, as well as working alongside artists and dancers themselves in studio and production environments. He was the Founding Chair of the Intervals emerging artist program at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, where he has long been a member of their Young Collectors Acquisitions Committee. Jeremy is a Commissioner at Art in General, a member of The Shandaken Project, and on the Board of Directors of the Fire Island Artist Residency.

Francisco Rovira Rullán
Director, ROBERTO PARADISE, Puerto Rico.

From a very young age, Rovira Rullán excelled profesionally working for the prestigious Ronald S. Lauder Collection (NYC), in the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo of Puerto Rico, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (Boston) and M&M proyectos (San Juan, Puerto Rico) among other institutions and companies. In 2003, then 26 years old, he founded Galería Comercial, a space that blazed the trail for a whole new world of contemporary art in the island with a significant international splash.

Founded in the year 2011, Roberto Paradise is his latest art adventure. In less than three years from it's inauguration, Rovira Rullán has vigorously placed his new project in the international art fair circuit (ARCOmadrid, NADA Miami, NADA New York, among others), art and mainstream media (for example, LA Times, Flash Art, New York Times, El País, CNN, Modern Painters, Beautiful Decay) and participated in collaborations with prestigious galleries around the world (Andrea Rosen Gallery, ltd los angeles and Josh Lilley Gallery to name a few). Since February 2014, Roberto Paradise is a Member of the New Art Dealers Alliance.

 

 


Juliette Desorgues

Associate Curator, Programme Coordinator, Institute of Contemporary Arts, London.

Juliette Desorgues is a curator and writer based in London. She currently works as Associate Curator at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, working on numerous exhibitions, talks and publications. Previous to that she worked at Barbican Art Gallery, London, and was involved in the curating  of exhibitions and editing of accompanying publications such asBauhaus Art as LifeGeoffrey FarmerEverything Was Moving.

 

 

 

 

 

 

What is the ArtSlant Prize?

The ArtSlant Prize is a year-long juried competition culminating in the ArtSlant Prize Exhibition at one of the major fairs in Miami Beach during Art Basel. This year's competition will take place over 6 rounds and be juried by world-renowned gallerists, arts professionals and educators. The ArtSlant Prize is awarded to an emerging artist whose work helps advance contemporary aesthetic, conceptual, and political discourses. 

The ArtSlant Prize includes:

  • $5000 in Cash Awards
    • 1st Place - $3000
    • 2nd Place - $1000
    • 3rd Place - $500
    • Student Prize - $500
  • Fair Exhibition in Miami Beach during Art Basel
  • $15,000 in stipends and exhibition fees
  • Featured in the ArtSlant Prize Catalogue
  • $5000 purchase award and inclusion in the ArtSlant Collection

 

Student Prize:

This year, we are also proud to initiate a Student Track in the ArtSlant Prize. When applying, just select student in the Categories section if you are currently enrolled in a BFA or MFA program. The Student Track will afford special consideration to artists just beginning their career and, if selected, will include consultations with our editorial team.
