My Favorite Works at De Young Museum, San Francisco Today, I visited De Young Museum in San Francisco for the King Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of Pharaohs exhibit. It was a fantastic show, despite the fact that the most spectacular beautifully inlaid gold mask of the young king, who died at the age of 19, was not included in the current exhibit of these artifacts. Some old timers had the luck of viewing it when the show came to San Francisco decades ago. I cannot say that I was cheated out o... [more]

Migdalia Valdes at Intersection for the Arts/ Intersection 5M April 4th, 2009 - May 23rd, 2009
Posted 4/13/09

I went to the opening on April 4th. It was packed with people, standing and sitting on the floor, walking around and flipping through Migdalia's journals. The set-up is amazing; it's a review of the last 10 years of Valdes "Every Day" project. From the vast amount of work that she creates, she selected 1 picture for the Decade, 10 pictures from the Every Year, 12 pictures for Every Month and all pictures from the Every Day for one year. The room is beautifully arranged and filled with black and wh... [more]

Submitted by Montgomery Rene of the SF Artslant Community: The Albany Waterfront is located on the eastern edge of the San Francisco Bay, encompassing approximately 160 acres of land between Highway I-80 and the bay. The Albany Bulb is the spot of land thriving at the furthermost West peak of this 160 acres.     This "Bulb" (simply named for its shoreline's shape) was born of dumping in the 1950's. The land growth of this dumping stopped in the mid 1980's (reports have ranged from 1983-1986). ... [more]

The Crucible Holiday Gifty is an annual affair for my family, we love going every year. I always know I'll find wonderful and unquie gifts for hard to buy for people. I usually do a quick walk through with my husband, circle a few things on the map and send him off to shop for me too. My husband loves watching the demos they do and they have some very amazing performances as well. I would diffinately recommend this event to anyone. [more]

Bravo. [more]

I wandered into this small-not so small gallery, tucked into the more sedate end of the growing new design ghetto of San Francisco, and was so refreshed by (youthful ardor of the) works on exhibition at this gallery! Wow. Let's just pull out the stops and hang out with a bunch of young, not so young, all uber talented, and all...San Francisco Bay Area artists! The range of work presented encompassed (oops...!) everything - paintings, singular prints, video installations, artists books, and gla... [more]
