GOING ONCE, GOING TWICE... Last few days to get your work in and be counted for Round #6 of the Showcase! Things are going to be moving fast from here on out, and we certainly do not want you left behind. Our room at Aqua is booked, our flights are confirmed, we have the toolbox for installation packed... all that's waiting is some magnificent art!
THEREFORE, STRAP THOSE BOOTS UP, put the finishing touches on that masterpiece of a painting, take a picture, title and caption it, and enroll your creation! Let the art gods work their magic, and maybe, just maybe, you may find yourself sitting under an umbrella or palm tree in Miami Beach come the first week of December.

THE ROUND #6 JURY PANEL continues the excellence we've all come to expect from the Showcase. The three for this session are:
- Asmaa Al-Shabibi is the co-founder and director of Lawrie Shabibi, a contemporary art gallery in Dubai with a focus on art from West Asia and North Africa. Having practiced finance law with an international firm in London and Singapore for eight years, Asmaa’s career took a change of course when she moved to the United Arab Emirates. In March 2007 she joined Art Dubai as its Managing Director until September 2009, following which she freelanced as a curator (curating the Iraq House at Bastakiya Art Fair, 2010) and dealer in contemporary Middle Eastern art. In 2011 she cofounded Lawrie Shabibi with her partner Wiliam Lawrie. To date the gallery has held nine exhibitions and published eight catalogues as well as engaged the public with regular talks and screenings. She has two little boys and loves reading, dancing, yoga and aesthetics.
- Lynda Erickson is an independent curator and founder of Lynda Erickson Gallery. Established in 2003, Lynda Erickson Gallery has since maintained a 'nomadic gallery' existence as a traveling pop-up gallery that repurposes residential, commercial, and defunct municipal public spaces for exhibitions, performances, and presentations with a focus on promoting underrepresented creators and thinkers. Most recently, in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art Beijing and Tsinghua University her organization resurfaced in a suburb of Beijing coordinating an exhibition and symposium of an international group of artists and writers to address creative, legal, and conceptual issues of copyright and authorship. Since 2004 similar curatorial situations engaging other themes and topics in contemporary art have taken place in Berlin, Germany, Manila, Philippines and Detroit, Michigan, USA. She is a founding and contributing member of the artist/curator collective Wechselbalg and currently will be announcing a new temporary location in Brooklyn, New York winter of 2012/2013.
- Thalia Vrachopoulos, director of the Tenri Cultural Institute, holds a doctorate in the Philosophy of Art History from the City University of New York Graduate School. She has curated hundreds of national and international exhibitions, and biennials, accompanied by scholarly catalogues. Dr. Vrachopoulos is an Associate Professor of visual arts at John Jay College of Criminal Justice of the City University of New York. She has written scholarly essays and reviews for NYArts Magazine, Visual Culture AD, Part, +-0 , Public Art, Art in Culture, Art in Asia and Sculpture, Wolganmisool, Asia Pacific, d’Art and has been included in many international panels. Dr. Vrachopoulos has co-authored a book on Hilla Rebay the founder of the Guggenheim Museum and has served on many prestigious advisory panels for art fairs and non-profit institutions. Dr. Vrachopoulos’ contributions have been recorded in the permanent collection of the Library at Princeton library in the Archives of Accomplished Women in the Arts.
