scott lowenbaum review

yet again scott lowenbaum has given us a powerful show so full of color and space shifting it pleases all viewers   The work is great I spent 4 hours and had to keep going back through the gallery. lowenbaum has moved away from his siganature roosters they are still here just in smaller doses .  the new works have the color, texture, the blur between real and imaginary space, it's all there just like his masterpieces of 2005 .  What I love most about his work is that it does not take itself too seriously.  The paintings speak for themselves
I think the new work marks a great departure he is not so bound by the real world his paint suddenly melts and drips into the viewer's space he is letting his incredable handmade paint do its own thing .  his new bronzes are experments in form he has let go of the contours that he has made his painting carrer on building forms of roosters out of brushstrokes of bronze they almost have a japanese brutalist feel .it is nice to see his remarkable range yet again he shocks the viewer with a whole new body of work
