This show is not to be missed. The paintings pop off the canvas in bright colors as if the paint were dancing to the jazz music that inspired many of the paintings. While the curator emphasizes the historical importance of these paintings, and that they capture a community not usually chronicled in art, they are great because they are great, period. He uses color and facial expression in a way that seems ahead of his time. It is a delightful and eye opening show. Particularly memorable, a swirling... [more]

The dualities of life have been an inspiration for many artists over the centuries, with pieces showing the unification or separation of these ideas. In their third collaborative exhibition, Zhou B Art Center and PoetsArtists magazine invited select artists and poets to provide their interpretation of one of these concepts, which also is the title of the show, Immortality and Vulnerability. “The ideas of immortality and vulnerability have been part of the human experience for millennia... This exhibition is called Private and Confidential, the pieces are beautifully framed prints, that vibrate with luminous colour and luscious brush strokes, these seductive effects give a warm and enticing atmosphere to the imagery, but underneath is a certain and sudden shock as the mind realises the figurative imagery that challenges the imagination and beckons satire and paradox, and the cartoon, these seem to rent through the surface of appearances.....perhaps to comfort the knowing viewer wi... The connection crosses borders and decades, as creative individuals—in art and literature, performance and song—have given voice, sometimes the only one, to victims of turmoil and iniquities. A Change is Gonna Come Solo exhibition Marco Pezzotta (1985)Curated by Bogomir Doringer *** The artistic interest from Marco Pezzotta lays in examining different systems in which our identity is being either formed or changed. We stand in those systems as individuals or as part of a group. For describing and shaping these relations Marco Pezzotta uses objects that function as tools for a narrative. They appear from another space and time, floating between digital and physical. The artist creates... [more]
