Description

This large painting was completed outside during the Summer of 2011. It is loosely part of a series of three paintings with stencils of birds. This one differs from the other two in many ways. Primarily this painting is based on (actually painted directly over) a year 2000 painting entitlled "Scheme."

The 2000 underpainting is geometric with stroked lines of primary black, red, green, and white on orange, in patterns of primary shapes: triangles, circles and squares forming a sort of diagram or schematic.

The 2011 redux follows most of the original patterns but replaces the primary lines, shapes, and colors with more diffused colors, more complex shapes, and depictions meant to reflect the artists growth and development in the decade since . A wholly new painting honoring the schematic laid out long ago, expanding into new dimensions and honoring the temperment of maturity and experience.
