Description
This is a painting about renewal. The skeleton which represent death is offering the viewer a new born child which means a new beginning or reincarnation. The moth was thought to represent the soul. The oak tree on the left in the language of flowers means eternity, the Yew tree on the right which is normally to be found near churches represents death but also life and renewal. The nightshade means truth. Everything else in the painting represents change and continuation.
