Insecticides

Description

Combining hand-drawn chalk backgrounds with nude subjects, my photography series, Chemicals depicts civilians as the collateral damage of industrial prosperity. Expressionistic use of chalk, an erasable medium, highlights the fragility of living in a toxic world.

Specifically, this photo represents how pesticides manufactured by billion-dollar corporations, endanger the lives of third world nations and farm workers.

Using methods that I’ve honed from ten years as an abstract painter, I used the expressionistic properties of chalk and eraser dust. This image was shot on 35mm black & white film and the drawing was completed during the picture-taking process.
