Description
Blues Man is a quasi self portrait and one of the most enduring and endearing images i have created to date. simply put, when you do something you love, it becomes a part of you ....people begin to associate you with what it is you do. and since most of the music we hear on the radio today stems from the roots of blues music i felt it was appropriate to pay homage to the source. the blues has always been a way of turning pain into pleasure, singing lyrics of loss and suffering somehow connects us regardless of race and culture. everyone can relate to the struggle. and since i am a music lover at heart, it was the obvious connection to the visual arts that prompted me to create this piece. In addition to the music, this piece was created from the pain associated with the early days of America and the use f the slave trade to help establish itself as a free country...today's freedoms we take for granted were painstakenly fought for by our ancestors and predecessors and this is my way of showing them respect and paying homage to the people who blazed the trails we easily trod on today. without struggle there is no progress. Blues Man is a symbol of hope and also an image for lovers of music and portraiture in fine art. make it yours today
