The Freedom of Indifference is the sixth painting in The Decades Series which deals with the progress of life through its first eighty years.  Here the group of friends are all in their fifties and they are passing a crowd made of individuals who are upset in one way or another.  The friends, now mature people, are enjoying the luxury of being indifferent to their surroundings - they continue on their own way unaffected by that which affects others.
