FLOOD, EAST BORNEO, INDONESIA
In 2003 I volunteered my time as a teacher in a small remote village located in East Borneo, Indonesia called Leka Kidau, Dayak is a name of tribes that identifies the various indigenous peoples on the island of Borneo by the Indonesian part known as Kalimantan.
People ask me "How did your students communicate with you?"
I replied "there eyes spoke to me through my lens..."
As a photographer, I tried to capture the life of these children, through there expressions, through there actions, through there surroundings.
The truth is, being there as a teacher, my job was to teach, but I believe in the end, they became the better teachers...
