The SAC Gallery presents a broad spectrum of work of the highest quality that represents the local community as it challenges it to expand and see itself in a constantly new and exciting light. It is our hope to represent sectors of the community that are rarely represented in other galleries and those that are under-represented. We also hope to represent sectors that are represented in ways that transform them into something newly seen, experienced and understood.
The purpose of the exhibits in the gallery is to inform and challenge the broader community and invite dialogue and discourse around issues relevant to our time and the individual. Very often these issues may not represent the most popular ideas of the day but for the gallery, art is not necessarily a popularity contest: it is a space in which new and often controversial ideas can be examined, discussed and critically assessed.
Among the exhibitions, the SAC Gallery is host and sponsor to the annual Long Island College Art competition (LICA).
