DESCRIPTION

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the largest and most prominent institutions in the United States to view modern and classical works of art.  The permanent collection includes over 2 million works ranging from decorative arts and furniture to Asian and African artifacts to classical, medieval and modern painting and sculpture.  Also associated with the museum is The Cloisters, a branch of The Met devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe, assembled from architectural elements, both domestic and religious, on view in Upper Manhattan.
