Since 2001, the Bruce Silverstein Gallery’s mission is to discover, rediscover and contextualize innovative and influential artists and artworks from the present, past and future of the photographic medium, and to present these to the greater art community. Over the past few seasons, the gallery's focus has expanded to include multimedia works by both contemporary artists working in various art forms as well as historically important photographers who have produced significant works in other media. The main gallery location, with three exhibition spaces open to the public, is in the heart of the Chelsea Art District, and is dedicated to the display of masterworks of photography, from early modernist works, to contemporary imagery.
The gallery is pleased to host the Silverstein Photography Annual (SPA,) a yearly invitational exhibition held at this location, displaying ten emerging artists, each selected by a prominent curator.
BRUCE SILVERSTEIN is proud to promote arts education in the New York public school system through internship programs and the support of the Center for Arts Education (CAE)
