DESCRIPTION

TEI is committed to enriching the experience of our properties through the Art-in-Buildings Program (AiB), an innovative approach that brings contemporary art by emerging and mid-career artists to non-traditional exhibition spaces in the interest of promoting artists, expanding the audience for art, and creating a more interesting environment for our building occupants, residents, and their guests.

Francis Greenburger and Elisabeth Akkerman founded AiB in 2003 at the Maiden Lane Exhibition Space at 125 Maiden Lane. The inaugural exhibition was a survey of Sol LeWitt's sculptural maquettes from 1979-2003. From this auspicious beginning, AiB has expanded to include rotating exhibitions and permanent installations at several sites in NYC and beyond. Over the years we've show works at the Maiden Lane Exhibition Space by incredible emerging and mid-career artists including, Susan Benarick, Willard Boepple, Dan Devine, Mary Mattingly, Rakuko Naito, Caoimhghin O'Fraithile, Ayano Ohmi, John Powers, and Erwin Redl, among many others.
