With its architectural landmark building in Midtown Manhattan the Austrian Cultural Forum New York is the cultural embassy of Austria in the United States. It hosts more than 200 free events annually and showcases Austrian comtemporary art, music, literature, and academic thought in New York.
In its five-level gallery, the Austrian Cultural Forum New York presents three to four major thematic exhibitions each year, ideally organized by a team consisting of an American and an Austrian curator. The topics of these group shows generally relate to Austrian culture and foreign policy, but always with reference to the interests of the New York public. The declared goal is to offer emerging artists from Austria an opportunity for direct comparison with established international and American artists. Listings and reviews appear in publications such as The New York Times, New York Magazine, The New Yorker, Time Out Magazine, and Artforum.
