Axelle is a contemporary art gallery located in the SoHo neighborhood in lower Manhattan, New York City. We first opened our doors in 1998 and over the years have evolved into a unique and important part of the arts community.
The gallery is owned by entrepreneur and adventurer Bertrand Delacroix, son of the well-known artist Michel Delacroix. Exhibits feature original artwork in figurative, realism, and impressionist styles you seldom find in other NYC art galleries.
Axelle first opened its doors in 1998 in a charming blue storefront on Spring Street in SoHo. In 2007, our lease expired and we relocated to Chelsea, another booming art district in New York City. Our original Chelsea location was 547 West 20th Street, across from Chelsea Piers and surrounded by many other beautiful art galleries. It was a beautiful brick gallery but construction eventually blocked the view of the street so we decided to move again in April 2009 – this time to a spacious gallery at 535 West 25th Street. It was a great space but we missed SoHo – and our clients missed us – so we returned to SoHo and opened our current bi-level location at 472 West Broadway.
Axelle represents contemporary fine artists from all over France, the UK, Bulgaria, Malta, Argentina and Spain. We, along with our Boston location, are the sole US representation for most of our artists.
