The architectural competition “Peace Pentagon: A Call to Action” was sponsored by the group Friends of 339 to solicit proposals envisioning a new center for peace and social justice in downtown Manhattan. The building that is on this site currently has substantial structural problems and is in danger of being sold. The exhibition as a whole seeks to feature over fifty selected entries at different locations in lower Manhattan in close proximity to the site. The attempt to disperse the exhibit at various locations arose out of the desire to strengthen the connection between the buildings users and their neighborhood.
