> DESCRIPTION

In today's world of sound bites and hyper-active over-stimulation it is not surprising that the world is one big blur. Gerhard Richter recognized the uncertainty and inconsistency inherent in our fast-paced society, and so have myriad others. Let's take our time and really look at what might never be clear in these works. This reception is free and the public is warmly invited to attend.

SICA, The Shore Institute of the Contemporary Arts, is located at 20 Third Avenue in Long Branch, New Jersey 07740, a short walk from the Long Branch stop on the NJ Transit train and from the beach. Call 732-263-1121 or visit www.sica.org for more information.

The primary goal of this contemporary art center is to increase public accessibility, awareness, appreciation, and knowledge of the contemporary arts. This is being accomplished by a series of classes, seminars, exhibitions, lectures, and demonstrations which will respond to the cultural interests and diversities of its audience. Artists who produce new and significant works of art and are known for their innovative work and ideas will be selected as exhibitors, lecturers, and demonstrators. Since these exhibitions and presentations will be open to the public, they will provide an essential tool for the advancement of visual arts in central New Jersey, as well as helping to augment the experience of students participating in the educational activities.
