Center for New Media and the ArtsEVENT

> DESCRIPTION
In a society as complex and technologically sophisticated as ours, the most urgent projects require the coordinated contributions of many talented people. Whether the task is building a global business or discovering the mysteries of the human brain, one person can't hope to accomplish it, however gifted or energetic he or she may be. There are simply too many problems to be identified and solved, too many connections to be made. ~ Organizing Genius: The Secrets of Creative Collaboration by Warren Bennis and Patricia Ward Biederman BETHEL, CT – We are all familiar with the artist as an isolated genius, toiling away in a studio, immune to hunger, friendship, and self-doubt. The artists of Co-Elaborate challenge that myth, offering testament to the countless stylistic and thematic breakthroughs born of conversation and interaction. In this unique show, visions coalesce and inspirations merge; the result is, as William Giese so eloquently puts it, a “child born of two,” a wholly different kind of creation. The Center for New Media and the Arts invites you to celebrate those partners, allies, co-conspirators, critics, and models that motivate us as artists.
Artists’ Reception November 7, 2009, 2-5 PM, Artist Talk 3 PM Join the Center and the Co-Elaborate artists for the afternoon, and learn how these featured collaborations came into being: how the artists chose their collaborators, to what extent collaboration enhances the creative process, and what each participant contributed. At 3 PM, the artists in attendance will introduce themselves and answer all of your burning questions. |
