Praxis International Art is proud to present Portraits of Time, recent paintings by Martin La Rosa (b. Buenos Aires, Argentina. 1972). The exhibition will be on view from October 14 through November 10, 2009, with an Opening Reception with the artist on October 14th, from 6 to 8 pm.

Martin La Rosa’s new paintings explore “portraiture” and present us with realistic impressions that connect the viewer with the subject in a different way. These engaging portraits, which depict  the artist's friends and colleagues, reveal beyond who the person is, and they show experiences, memories, and time.  In some cases, just through an object, these paintings continue to intrigue us with the unveiling of a story, moreover, of a life.

Martin La Rosa has exhibited his paintings in Latin America, the United States and Europe. He has obtained various awards such as the Second Prize at the San Telmo painting exhibition in Argentina, an “Honors” Mention at the Palais the Glace National Exhibition Hall in Buenos Aires and the First Prize in recognition of his work, with a scholarship to study in Italy.

Praxis International Art opened 30 years ago in Buenos Aires as a space dedicated to exhibiting the works of young artists from Latin America. In the course of the years the gallery has expanded and opened spaces in Miami and New York introducing these artists to a worldwide audience. Today Praxis continues to represent Latin American Contemporary Art promoting emerging talents working in all disciplines and encouraging them to continue producing new art.
