> DESCRIPTION
On September 16, 1936, forty-seven men were killed in the Spanish village of Villamayor de los Montes and buried in an unmarked mass grave. This Spanish Civil War altercation was revisited in 2004, when a forensics team was joined by artist Francesc Torres, who documented the exhumation of the grave. His photographs poignantly examines the relationships between war, violence, memory, and photography in the context of the buried history of the Spanish Civil War.
