BoxoFFICE is proud to announce a group show featuring works by China Adams, Tina Bluefield, John Luckett and Randy Polumbo.
Institutions and systems are proving themselves fallible and incapable of providing fully for the individual. This failure need not be depressing, not stultifying and certainly not tragic. It is perfectly human. As such, it reminds us of where the responsibility ultimately lies. With us and with the communities we can touch. Once again, we are reminded to take responsibility for ourselves and for the communities we belong to. There is a need for “A Radical State of Independence”. The works in this exhibition, and very practices of the artists included, inspire reflection and empower action.
BoxoFFICE is dedicated to furthering contemporary art from the new American frontier. While this frontier may conjure a geographic image, it is in fact a spirit that lives in many places simultaneously. The artists that BoxoFFICE cooperates with are each singular in their practice. They address a range of subjects, in a variety of media, working freely, boldly and independently. Some are located in places that nurture the open spirit, such as Joshua Tree, California and environs. Others create their own free space within the metropolitan fabric. These artists engage a dialogue concerning freedom, choice and responsibility. And BoxoFFICE is their conduit to a wider audience.
