EFA Project Space presents Chaperone, an eight-week summer event. This weekly series consists of films handpicked by a group of artists, all whose work provocatively explores disparate aspects of our culture’s love affair with mediated reality.

From June 10th through July 29th, 2009, EFA Project Space presents Chaperone, an eight-week summer event. This weekly series consists of films handpicked by a group of artists, all whose work provocatively explores disparate aspects of our culture’s love affair with mediated reality.  The participating artists are: Alex Bag, Beth Campbell, Ian Cooper, Anna Craycroft, Amy Granat, k8 Hardy, Kalup Linzy, Sara Greenberger Rafferty.

Each artist has been asked to share a film he or she finds curious, masterful, or compelling.  Through live introductions and an accompanying publication, the artists present their “take” on these selected cinematic works, giving greater insight and dimension to our understanding of their own distinct creative processes.  Whether it be a classic, a blockbuster, a musical, a slasher, or an art-house indie, the audience will experience each film through the watchful eyes of the eight dutiful ‘chaperones’.

On June 10, EFA Project Space welcomes the artist Sara Greenberger Rafferty as our guest for the first screening of the series. She has selected Lucas (1986), as the film to share with the audience.
