> DESCRIPTION

Monday 10 November Apache Scholars at the Haffenreffer Museum

Dale and Douglas Miles, two prominent Apache scholars will visit the Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology's Manning Hall Gallery at 5:30 p.m. Dale Miles, the first tribal historian of the San Carlos Apache of Arizona, presents "The Apaches and the Borderlands Conflict", which examines the role that the U.S.-Mexico border played in Apache history. His brother, Douglas Miles, a prominent visual artist, presents Apachelypse Now, a mixed-media presentation that connects the universality of mainstream's skateboard culture to today's Indian youth as a way to see the reciprocal influences of pop culture on Native cultures. The presentation will be followed by a reception.
