Tuesday, November 11, 6:30 p.m.

EFA Project Space, 323 West 39th Street, 2nd Floor

Created in conjunction with the exhibition Beyond a Memorable Fancy, EFA Project Space presents an evening with artists Robert BuckIan Cooper and Jon Kessler, and master printers Luther DavisPhil Sanders and papermaker Rachel Gladfelter in a discussion about the head-to-head challenges and resulting rewards of their collaborations.

Robert Buck, from How am I to Sign Myself, 2008; Ian Cooper, Do/You (Flat), 2008; bothon exhibit in Beyond a Memorable Fancy

Robert Buck and Phil Sanders will talk about How am I to Sign Myself, a series of 24 double-sided prints combining lithography, offset, digital and stamp printing. In 2008, the artist changed his signature and his name from Robert Beck to Robert Buck; this edition, a reproduction of pages from the gallery guest book from his last show as Robert Beck, marks this transition. It is appropriately the first work signed Robert Buck.

Ian Cooper and Luther Davis will discuss (in addition to past collaborations) their most recent project, Do/You (Flat), a four sided twelve color screenprint with incisions and folds inspired by Coopers ongoing artistic obsession with the children’s television show “You Can’t Do That on Television.”Jon Kessler and Rachel Gladfelter will discuss the process behind the new body of work currently on display at Dieu DonnéJon Kessler: New Works. This bold series of handmade paper creations were made by tearing, beating and mashing magazine and newspaper images into wet paper pulp.

Moderated by Michelle Levy, Program Director, EFA Project Space, and curator of Beyond a Memorable Fancy.

Beyond a Memorable Fancy is on view through December 13. EFA Project Space gallery hours: Wed- Sat., 12-6.For more information: projectspace@efa1.org
