As an L.A. native, a son of a musician, and a man that has worked in

the music industry for several years, Mikal Hameed celebrates his 15th

year as a working artist in New York. His latest works blend his

musical history and his creative nature. As a designer and artist, he

calls on us to forget our indivualized nature and relationship with

our headphones and demands that we start to share our music as it was

meant to be; unplugged and free. Mikals manifesto blends the iconic

image of the boombox and alters the platform to which music is brought

to the masses.

Mikals personal/close relationship to the early 80s hip hop culture

and boomboxes create a strong platform/springboard/foundation from

which he explores the collaboration with traditional art mediums.

Mikal's upcoming show, set to open December 12th, 2008 at Supreme

Trading Gallery located in Williamsburg Brooklyn, will showcase a

variety of his latest work.  He plans to transform not the only space,

but the minds of those in attendance.  Attendees are encouraged to

bring their iPods in order to get the full experience of his work.
