Loft 594 is pleased to present On Location, an exhibition featuring the work of Bill Basquin, Carly Glovinski, Laini Nemett, Harvey Opgenorth and Audra Wolowiec. The exhibition opens on September 6th with a reception from 6-10pm, and will be on view through September 22nd, 2013.
In On Location, curator Lindsey A. Wolkowicz brings together the work of five artists addressing the articulation of space from the perspectives of ownership, intimacy, construction, displacement, accumulation and loss. Though vastly different in approach and focus, each artist provides a view into what we build around ourselves and an exploration of how we inhabit it. Through installation, painting, video and object, On Location presents the viewer with one room… full of doors.
Following the thread that runs through On Location, the viewer is called to consider the spaces we occupy, how we define them, demarcate their boundaries and identify ourselves, or others, within them. These spaces are not simply architectural. As we move through the course of the day we inhabit dream space, built space, as well as those that we are constantly constructing, and deconstructing, through language, relationship, memory, association and the cultivation of our personal identity.
