Artists Lorraine O’Grady (Skowhegan Resident Faculty 1999) and LaToya Ruby Frazier (Alum 2007) will present the first talk of the second season of SkowheganTALKS. The series features emerging artists who are recent Skowhegan alumni in conversation with established artists who have been faculty at Skowhegan. While the association with Skowhegan is the common factor among all the speakers, the conversations focus on subjects of broader interest including the speakers’ current and past work and the challenges and opportunities inherent in the experience of working as an artist today. The format of SkowheganTALKS is an extension of the non-traditional teacher-student model that is at the core of the Skowhegan experience, one that stresses collegiality over a hierarchical approach.
