The Seventh Annual Summer Exhibition is a group show featuring original drawings, paintings, sculptures and prints by Academy faculty, alumni and students. This year’s works have been selected from more than 700 submissions by a juror panel consisting of three distinguished members of the New York art world: Allegra LaViola, owner and director of Allegra LaViola Gallery; Wendy Olsoff, curator and co-owner of P.P.O.W. Gallery; and Stephanie Roach, director of The FLAG Art Foundation.
The Academy is happy to be partnering with Allegra LaViola, who will host the Seventh Annual Summer Exhibition at her gallery, Allegra LaViola Gallery, located on New York’s Lower East Side. Allegra LaViola Gallery focuses on both established and emerging artists, with an emphasis on painting, installation and performance-related work.
In past years, the exhibition has been hosted by the Flowers Gallery and the Academy’s Wilkinson Gallery. Past jurors include Matthew Flowers, Carter Foster, Julie Heffernan, Eric Fischl, Jenny Saville, Will Cotton, David Salle, Carrie Rebora Barratt and Steven Zevitas, among others.
Located in Tribeca and founded in 1982, the New York Academy of Art is a not-for-profit graduate school that combines intensive technical training with active critical discourse. In the belief that rigorously trained artists are best able to realize their artistic vision, Academy students learn to master the traditional methods and techniques and are encouraged to use these skills to make vital contemporary art. www.nyaa.edu.
