> DESCRIPTION

Federico Junca Acebedo was born in Cali, Colombia in 1975.

In 1993 he completes his high school and began studies of Art at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogota. Received his bfa in 2002. He has won several recognitions in the course of his career, and his work has been shown in many countries. In his paintings Junca creates layers upon layers of convergent images, so that in the end the result is a dialogue, a painted conversation, an interaction of all those opposing forces that surround us. For Federico Junca life is messy and everything around us is constantly crashing and bouncing away. As a result, he aspires to express this on-going chaos, and does so by transforming it into a painting that like music has rhythm, tension, interrupts silence, and occupies empty space. Vibrant colors and dissipated images hide behind his layers of paint, creating texture, volume, and depth. Thus, when looked from afar, his paintings seem to be made out of wax rather than from acrylic paint. Within these walls of "wax" images are consolidated so that they no longer have a name, nor represent one image or one thing, but instead reflect one another. Images swim in-between these layers that allow you to see a flow of energy being transformed, unified and revealed.
