Nabil Nahas presents all new abstract paintings in his fourth solo show at Sperone Westwater. Combining thick layers of acrylic paint and pumice with vivid colors and geometric shapes, Nahas creates works that both pulse with vibrant energy and have an intimate tactile quality. Included in the exhibition is Nahas’ “Tree Paintings” series, inspired by his homeland of Lebanon. Alluding to the biblical history and geography of the region, Nahas paints partial and close-up views of cedar and olive trees dating from Roman times. The exhibition will be on view through May 4.
