Exhibition of Czech and American performance art, experimental photographs and videos by Vladimir Havrilla, Jiri Kovanda, Bruce Nauman, and Andy Warhol.
Curated by Dusan Brozman.
The exhibition Out of the Circle introduces two artists from former Czechoslovakia: the Czech artist Jiri Kovanda, the pioneer of the Czech conceptual and performance art, together with the Slovak artist Vladimir Havrilla belonging to the artistic underground of the 1970s and 1980s. Their work is presented together with video pieces from the 1960s by Andy Warhol and Bruce Nauman. The connection of these works show the remarkable visual and inner coherence of the artists, despite the political systems and the iron curtain that separated them.
