Collectively Assembled is rooted in the origins of tART: the studio-visit, and draws from the idea of the Surrealist gameExquisite Corpse. Over one year, a chain of scheduled studio visits has built the exhibition. One member visited another’s studioand selected work for the show. The receiving member then interpreted what she felt was central to her selected work. With that concept in mind, she proceeded on to visit another member’s studio to select work. The process continued until it circled through every member. The final unfolding, overseen by curator Yulia Tikhonova, is the show itself.
