The latest installment of Lesny JN Felix's vibrant paintings hits the Lower East Side's GalleryBar (120 Orchard St.; Manhattan) on Wednesday, July 30, 2008. There will be an opening that evening at 8 PM that is free to the public. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the young artist, fresh to the New York art scene. The exhibit, which features new paintings, will run through August 14, 2008. Felix's work exudes passion. With energetic swipes of paint, the artist fills the canvas with abstract shapes that command attention. Utilizing the whole spectrum of the rainbow, Felix's paintings are bright and cheerful. They have a raw, minimalist vibe reminiscent of Henri Matisse. About the Artist Lesny JN Felix has emerged as one of the new talents in New York. The Haitian-born artist fled his homeland because of political prosecution resulting from the overthrow of the last Duvalier "Jean Claude" in 1986. When he moved to New York in 1988, art was not an ideal option, but by 2005 it had become his absolute calling. Since then, the painter/photographer, who goes by the street name "Flex," has become immersed in the New York art scene. He is a member of the Next Group Of Dead Artists Seminar, NewSalon Art Exhibition Series, Open Studio Art Exhibition Series, and The Gruppo. His art and thoughts can be viewed at his "Art and Life Style" blog at http://lesnyjnfelix.blogspot.com.
