“ART FROM THE HEART” Explores the artist’s intrinsic value.

“Art From the Heart (AFTH),” is a pop-up exploration of the artist’s intrinsic value.  There are no submission fees and the only free admission is for participating artists (even if you are not selected for exhibition!).  Every artist included in the installation shares revenue: 50% of AFTH2012 net revenue is equally distributed to tagged artists and the remaining 50% is shared by all other exhibited artists.

Curated by Jennifer Kahrs with input from worldwide internet voters, the exhibit will be hosted at the Gowanus Loft (61 9th Street, #C8, Brooklyn, NY 11215) a photography, art and event space perched atop the Gowanus Industrial Arts Complex.

“I am drawn to work by artists who apply their unique perspective to illuminating the relationship between their existence and the world around them with a smart, sincere sensibility.  I want to encourage your core artistic aspirations and professional development as an independent artist with aesthetic concerns and practices completely of your own.  Imagine the one artwork in your portfolio that can remain as a testament to your entire belief system.  This is where we begin.”

The Open Call for submission is now.  Deadline for submission is June 8th through

The Vanderbilt Republic explores paradigm shifts.  Presently, we’re examining the purpose and place of the artist in society.  The creative heart is an endless reserve of hope, information, and value: a power source limited only by the channeling spirit.  Ours is fearless and playful.
